Nelson De León

Nelson brings over 20 years of recruiting and staffing experience to America At Work. In 1994, he opened the first Latino-owned employment agency in Reading, Pennsylvania to connect the growing Latino labor force in the area to local employers. His expertise lies is the recruitment and placement of bilingual and bicultural professionals for positions in the US and Latin America.

Nelson joined WorleyParsons corporate recruiting team, at the request of the company, a former client to provide full cycle recruiting support to: Finance, Project Controls, Engineering, and Infrastructure & Environments and Quality Control Departments. Additionally, he had the distinction of being the sole and lead recruiter supporting the company’s project in Ecuador, Petro Ecuador Esmeraldas Refinery Revamping.

He has traveled extensively through Latin America and the Caribbean as well as eastern and western Europe. He’s fluent in English, Spanish and Russian.

Nelson is a highly sought after expert in the field of recruitment and placement of bilingual/bicultural professionals. He has been recognized by the Governor of Pennsylvania as the first recipient of the Latino Pride Awards for Employment; he served on the Berks County Workforce Investment Board as well as being appointed Commissioner of the Reading Housing Authority. Additionally, he served on the Kutztown University Advisory board. He studied Civil Engineering at the Kiev Institute of Construction and Architecture in Kiev-Ukraine.

Mercedes Matta Valentine

Mercedes Matta Valentine is a bilingual/bicultural IT talent acquisition consultant, fluent in Spanish and English. Mercedes brings over 18 years of recruiting experience to America At Work.

She manages the Talent Acquisition Operation for US and Latin-American Marketplace business. Responsible for a Sr. Recruiters' team to meet hiring goals. Develop recruiting strategies to meet short-term hiring goals, and long term strategic priorities. Partner with business leaders, managers and HR business partners to evaluate recruitment needs. Ensure recruiting staff is promoting America At Work's core values and integrity. Respect and Excellence with all candidates and hires. Visit the primary service centers to support the recruiting team and businesses. Coordinate Talent Acquisition functions with our clients for consistency of approach and branding.

She was assigned as the Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist for Kenexa/IBM in Argentina to cover Latin America. Mercedes specialized on Engineering and SAP profiles. She has lead Payroll, Recruiting, Training, and developed teams. Senior IT Recruiter representing one of the top software companies in the World, SAP.

Fernando Fernandez

Fernando Fernandez served as the Global Director of Human Resources for INTECSEA for more than 5 years, and has over 40 years of domestic and international professional experience across multiple industries in General Management, Business Development, Consulting Services and Human Resources. His career has included opportunities to work and live internationally in Asia Pacific, Europe, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and in North America.

Prior to joining INTECSEA, Fernando served in several senior management roles for WorleyParsons Latin America and the Infrastructure & Environment sector, in addition to serving as a Member of International Board of Directors and an elected Representative to International Energy Agencies in Latin America. Fernando has participated and managed Mergers & Acquisitions activities in the Telecommunications, Manufacturing and Energy industries.

Fernandez holds a Business Degree from the University of Puerto Rico and has MBA studies from the Universidad del Turabo in Puerto Rico.
